Rotational Molding Services from Light Venus for Custom Speaker Enclosures
Looking for custom plastic speaker enclosures manufacturers?
Light Venus is an ISO 9001 certified plastic rotational moulding manufacturer, providing custom rotomolding services. Our facilities have the latest rotomolding technology, tooling, equipment systems and processes available to support OEM custom project for speaker enclosures.
The Rotational Molding Process
Rotationally molded plastic speaker enclosures are manufactured through a molding process that utilizes resins and other molded parts to create a hollow product with strength and durability. This process, also known as rotomolding or roto casting, involves adding resins to a mold that is slowly rotated both vertically and horizontally. The method of simultaneously heating and rotating the mold allows the resin to distribute and fuse throughout the entirety of the mold. The rotational molding process effectively produces seamless parts with uniform thicknesses and more material in the corners for reinforcement and shock resistance. The size can be precisely controlled.
The Design advantage of rotational molding
Rotational molding provides greater design freedom than other molding methods, allowing for the development of highly customized products. Size varies from very small to oversize. Rotomolded plastic speaker enclosures range in size from small "bookshelf" speaker housings with 4" woofers and small tweeters designed for listening to music in a private home to oversized, heavy subwoofer enclosures, which are designed for use in stadium concert sound reinforcement systems for rock music concerts.
The traditional speaker enclosures are commonly rectangular shapes. With the rotational molding technology, the design of speaker enclosures can be much more complicate and aesthetics pleasing, allowing for the asymmetric geometry and contours. They can be rotomolded in a variety of attractive shapes, such as fruit, bells, conch shell, animal, etc
Rotational molding offers many options for colors, material selection and textures. In comparison to the wood and metal speaker enclosures, rotational molding allows for a virtually limitless array of bright and eye-catching colors, without the need for expensive and time-consuming painting. The colors can be molded in for reduced maintenance and long-lasting appearance. Rotomolded speaker enclosures also have fine surface details. Some of our customers here at Light Venus use our rotational molding capabilities to mold in their company logo graphics on their products for achieving greater brand recognition.
The cost-effective advantages of rotational molding
The major advantage is that tooling costs are lower with rotational molds than injection or blow molds. The product of the same specification and size, the cost of rotational mould is about 1/3 to 1/4 of the cost of blow moulding and injection mould.
The rotational molding process is extremely versatile. Plastic enclosures can be manufactured with hole cutouts, window ,moulded-in threaded inserts as an integral part to allow for the mounting of electrical components and PCBs. This eliminates the need for secondary tooling and assembly.
Without the gate and cavity flow distribution, very little material is wasted during the rotational molding process, and excess material is often re-used, making it economical and environmentally friendly. The set-up of loading and uploading the mould is easy when shifting the colour in production.
High quality level is achievable with rotational molding
Roto molded plastic speaker enclosures are watertight and airtight with one-piece construction, which can protect the internal circuitry against the effects of dirt, dust, moisture, corrosion and oxidation. They are lightweight and the resin can be tailor to suit the outdoor application with extreme weather conditions resistance. The applications range from sports fields to stadiums, theme parks, swimming pools, patio, gardens, and porches themed restaurants to the marine boat.
Here at Light Venus, we have rich experience in partnering with OEMs and companies from all over the world in the field of speaker enclosures. The requests for custom rotational molding projects can be submitted through inquiry form on our website or by email roto@lightvenus.com
