How to Inspect the External Surface Appearance of Rotomolded Products at Light Venus
In rotational molding industry, the external appearance inspection is to check the surface of the rotomolded products and parts, including the surface smoothness, color consistency, and structural integrity.
Light Venus is a professional custom rotational molding manufacturer. Our skillfully trained operator rigorously inspects external surface appearance of plastic product by following the standardized methods and using the highly precise inspection instrument to verify the quality. Before inspection, we prepare inspection equipment, including magnifying glasses, measuring tools, ribbons, etc. At the same time, our operator will receive a detailed specification sheet and quality assurance checklists.
Surface smoothness
Smoothness refers to the flatness and glossiness of the product surface. Use a magnifying glass to inspect the surface of the product to check whether there are obvious protrusions or depressions. Then, touch the surface of the product with hands to feel its smoothness. Irradiate the product with a light source, check the reflection on the surface of the product.
Color consistency test
Color consistency refers to the uniformity of rotomolded product surface color. Use the color band for comparison. Put the ribbon on the surface of the product, check whether the colors of the two are consistent, and make judgement whether there is an obvious color difference on the surface of the product. At the same time, color can be measured by the means of equipment such as color measuring instruments.
Structural integrity inspection
Structural integrity is to check whether the product structure is complete without obvious defects or damage. In structural integrity inspection, the product needs to be carefully inspected and measured by means of instrument. Check the rotomolded products if there are cracks, bubbles, blemishes and other defects on the surface.
Dimensional accuracy inspection
Dimensional accuracy is to check the size of the product according to the required specification. it requires the equipment and gauge to measure the length, width, height and other dimensions of the product, and compare them with the design requirements. If the size exceeds the tolerance, it will be viewed as defective product.
Surface finish
Surface finish refers to the flatness of the product surface. This requires the inspection instruments such as flat plates and vernier calipers for measurement. Put the flat plate on the surface of the rotomolded product, use a vernier caliper to measure the gap between the flat plate and the product surface, and make judgement whether the surface flatness of the product meets the requirements. At the same time, the inspector can hand feel the flatness by touching the surface of the product.
Visual appearance defect inspection
Appearance defects include burrs, scratches, bubbles, etc. Inspector can use a magnifying glass to carefully check the surface of the product, and touch the surface of the rotomolded products
